We spent Early May Bank Holiday at Dafarn Rhos campsite on Anglesey. A well maintained family-friendly site with direct access to the beach. It’s conveniently located quite close to where you’ll arrive from the mainland but well placed for exploring the island. Read on to find out more about the campsite and our recommendations for places to visit.

Gibraltar Farm, Silverdale, Lancashire

From the top of the siteFor this camping trip we took a drive out to the west coast near Morecambe Bay to visit Gibraltar Farm. As the name suggests, the campsite is situated alongside a working farm. The entrance is hidden away behind a barn and not very well signed, but a fellow camper was able to point us in the right direction. Once you turn the corner behind the barn, the campsite opens up in front of you.

Fen Farm, Mersea Island, Essex

With spring supposedly sprung, Tom had been keen to get out in the camper van for a few weeks. Up until yesterday I had been able to put him off, but with the sun shining, my bad weather excuse would work no more (I don’t mind admitting to being a “fair weather” camper) and we set off on our first camping trip of the year, a last minute trip to Fen Farm.

As we live within an hour of Mersea Island, we had been there before and wanted to go back for a better look around so we phoned up to book for Saturday night.
